Valenc was founded by Brett Brewer, whose extensive experience with SDS platforms provided direct insight into the industry's ongoing challenges: manual data entry, tools misaligned with real-world workflows, and prolonged implementations. We set out to address these issues by delivering an AI-native chemical compliance platform designed to solve them from the start.
Professionals in chemical product stewardship are all too familiar with the challenges: significant time lost to manual data entry, outdated template editors, and frequent delays in regulatory updates, consultant availability, and implementations that often exceed initial timelines.
This is not a reflection on the professionals themselves. Existing tools were limited by the technology available at the time. Early solutions focused on digitizing records rather than improving processes. As a result, safety data sheets are still manually transcribed, often using regulatory content that may be outdated.
With twelve years of industry experience, Brett consistently encountered the same issues: data locked in inaccessible formats, regulatory updates driven by vendor timelines instead of regulatory requirements, and implementations so complex that companies accepted inadequate software to avoid the challenges of switching.
We knew there was a better way.
Valenc is an AI-native chemical compliance platform, developed from the outset with intelligence at its core rather than added later. Our AI agents automate key tasks, including parsing supplier documents, drafting all sixteen SDS sections in over 25 languages, verifying accuracy, and continuously monitoring regulatory sources. Classification is managed by a deterministic rules engine, ensuring decisions are transparent, consistent, and defensible.
Our SDS Indexing is currently in production, converting supplier PDFs into actionable, structured data. The full platform is live and includes classification, transport, authoring, and regulatory monitoring.

AI is integrated into every layer of our platform, not an afterthought or a chatbot tacked onto legacy infrastructure. Our AI handles reading, drafting, and review, but classification remains powered by transparent, published rules, so every answer can stand up to audit and scrutiny.
Every field is accessible via open API, and your data is always yours to export. We never charge for data access, and your proprietary formulations are never used to train our models. If you choose to move on, you take everything with you.
Your existing SDS library is the starting point. Our extraction engine ingests your current documents, regardless of where they're stored, and rebuilds them as structured data. There's no lengthy scoping phase, and no manual re-entry to get up and running.
Valenc monitors regulatory lists for every region we support. When a regulation changes, affected SDSs are flagged for review.
Each GHS rule in Valenc is derived from published regulations, reviewed by our regulatory team, and tested against known reference classifications before implementation. Every classification is saved with its corresponding rule and inputs, ensuring full traceability.
Before starting Valenc, Brett spent twelve years working in chemical compliance. Most recently, he was Vice President of Sales at Lisam, where he helped chemical manufacturers buy, set up, and manage SDS authoring platforms. He started Valenc to make SDS authoring faster and easier. He is based in Bryan/College Station, TX.
If you author safety data sheets and any of this sounds familiar, we'd be glad to show you what we've built.
